<dc:description xmlns:ns0="xml" ns0:lang="en">RTX toxins are pore-forming, cytolytic protein toxins that occur widely among pathogenic Gram-negative bacteria. RTX toxins appear to play a direct role in the virulence of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, the etiological agent of porcine pleuropneumonia. This discovery has led to the development of new diagnostic and epidemiological tools, as well as vaccines, that are useful for a broad variety of serotypes.</dc:description>
