English A main target in microbiome research is the understanding and ability to safely and effectively modulate the microbiome to improve health. Hereto, we discuss the role of vitamins in relation to the gut microbiome and present a rationale for the modulation of gut microbial communities via selected systemic and colon-targeted vitamin administration.
