English Temporal and spatial coordination of cytokinesis with chromosome segregation is key for successful cell division, but it is poorly understood. A recent article in Science by Pellman and coworkers (Yoshida et. al., 2006) reveals how the yeast polo-like kinase Cdc5 triggers Rho1/RhoA activation and the assembly of the contractile actin ring during anaphase.
