English The immunological synapse is a critical event for immune response development. The use of planar supported bilayers as surrogate antigen-presenting cells is a useful tool to study this phenomenon. Here we describe electron microscopy methods and approaches to expand our knowledge of the events taking place during the initial phases of T cell activation after antigen recognition at the nanometer scale.
