English 31 cases of non-fulminant hepatitis A complicated by acute renal insufficiency are reported in the literature. Two-thirds of those patients needed dialysis, usually when depending on the severity of their hyperbilirubinemia. This report concerns the first published case of non-fulminant cholestatic hepatitis A complicated by acute renal insufficiency in which a spontaneous remission of renal function occurred without need for dialysis despite a very severe hyperbilirubinemia.
