English Since 2012, small and medium galleries representing young artists have been experiencing a decline, with closures notably increasing in 2019. These smaller players find themselves in competition with leading galleries that act as gatekeepers due to their international reach and influence within the art world. Additionally, the digital age is prompting young artists to distance themselves from commercial galleries early in their careers. However, galleries must reclaim their position in this intricate ecosystem, shaped by human social relationships dictating values, to demonstrate their importance in nurturing the careers of young artists.
The study delves into the complexities of the art market, providing a comprehensive overview of current trends in ultra-contemporary art. It uncovers key challenges and opportunities faced by ultra-contemporary art galleries, particularly since 2021, following the pandemic crisis. This analysis offers valuable insights and innovative recommendations for commercial strategies that can capture the attention of collectors and artists, empowering galleries to achieve sustainable activity and reaffirm their significance within the art ecosystem.
