English The increasing adoption of remote work, technological advances, and the growing importance of travelling and work-life balance for employees raises several questions for companies. Should they reassess their work model and innovate according to ongoing trends? This paper examines the process of how companies can compete in this era of technological upheaval and subsequently adapt to contemporary phenomena such as digital nomadism. The framework of study is defined in detail and addresses various aspects of the digital nomad lifestyle as well as remote work in companies. A review of the existing literature announces the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the acceleration of digital transformation, the conflicting components between companies and digital nomads, and finally the need for businesses to adapt to the growing trends of remote work and digital nomadism. Semi-structured interviews with several companies were conducted in order to obtain information about how firms with different work models operate. The findings exhibit the business practices of remote, hybrid and on-site firms as well as their opinion and input regarding the implementation of remote work in companies. The results led to the conceptualization of an action plan which indicates the elements to reconsider in order to implement remote work in a company. Moreover, suggestions as to how organizations can proceed are drafted. The importance of technology and digitalization emerges along with the creation of strategies for remote work practices.
