English This article summarises the European Association Urology guidelines position on the role of urodynamic studies in investigating the problem of urinary incontinence. The guidelines recommend that urodynamics should not be necessary to help decide the best treatment for uncomplicated urinary incontinence, but may help if there is any uncertainty over the choice of invasive treatments. The guidelines also stress the importance of conducting urodynamic tests to the highest possible quality standards for the results to be useful in the decision-making process.
